Ghost
Dancing, from In
Memory of Grace, includes clips from The Cowboy and the
Indians, starring Gene Autry, as well as photographs of the ghost
dance and of ghost shirts, and portraits of Red Cloud, and Wovoka, and
Mountain Chief with Frances Densmore.
Stargazer
Shoes, from the album Play,
is illuminated with a mélange of vintage Soviet sci-fi (Mechte
Navstrechu, ‘To Meet aDream’, 1963) and mature Hollywood
cheddar (Project Moonbase, 1953).
Also from Play
is Get
Shaggin’ (a popular request when we play live;-) accompanied
by marvellous demonstrations of the Collegiate Shag and some breathtaking
moves from the beautiful Eleanor Powell.
Isaac
is from In Memory of Grace,
with Isaac Lee-Kronick (for whom it was written when he was a baby)
on lead guitar.
Democracy
and Ructions,
both from the album Equals,
are illustrated with photos by Max Reeves.
A live version
of the as-yet-unrecorded south London anthem Crystal
Palace, shot during a session for Ashley Cowan’s Alternative
Hour on Croydon Radio. (Another song from that Croydon session can be
seen on the Alternative Hour’s channel: it’s World
Without Mercy, from In
Memory of Grace.)
