You and Me Against the World
©2002 Gibbens/Weston

Baby hushabye now,
Daddy won’t be your second word
Cause baby you and me now
Were more than he was ready to afford.

It’s strange to think,
Oh baby picture this,
But in the time it takes to give a kiss
Somewhere there’s another
Little girl like you
Crying out to start her life anew.

And though there is so much that I can’t tell
And that we’ll have to find out for ourselves,
Baby till it’s time to take your place,
Baby till you start to run the race

Though they say your Ma
Is just a little girl
Well, baby here we are,
It’s you and me against the world.

Take my hand and I will help you walk.
Watch my lips till you learn how to talk.
And when your things need mending
And when your hurts need tending,
When you want a bedtime story
With a happy ending

Though they say your Ma
Is just a little girl
Well, baby here we are,
It’s you and me against the world.
