In Memory of Grace

Again
©2011 Gibbens/Weston

You could get old in the wink of an eye,
You could wake up feeling ready to die.
It doesn’t take long for the river to freeze,
It doesn’t take time for the engine to seize.
You sink in despair, you’re swallowed up by your fear.
There’s only one thing left
That could be holding you here.
When you fail and you fall and you feel you’re near the end,
You can be
Born again,
Born again, born again.
From the blood to the bone to the light of your eyes,
The flesh and the soul and the heart
That never dies,
You can be
Born again,
Born again, born again.

All that you have is getting ready to break,
All you believe is beginning to shake.
You paid the price and the price was a joke,
Your sacrifice turned into smoke.
You’re ready to stop now, feel you’re willing to kill.
There’s only one thing left
That could be keeping you still.
When you’re stumbling stripped of the love of a friend
You can be
Born again…

And you can live
The life that makes amends,
And you can see
Beyond where this road bends
And you can be
Born again.
