Lay for the Day 14th
February
The Hospital for Sick Children on Great Ormond Street in London opened
on Valentine's Day of 1852. Their first patient was a two-year-old called
George Parr.
Valentine
Whatever flowers come on the
dark wood
come up from where no light ever shone,
from the shunning root,
from heartwood,
to breathe air and rejoice in the sun
the more for being born where there are none.
